Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Crimes of the Kyiv Regime Rodion Miroshnik stated that Moscow's approaches to resolving the conflict in Ukraine remain unchanged. His words, spoken on March 13, 2025, on the Rossiya-24 TV channel, underscore the Kremlin's commitment to its strategy amid intensified diplomatic contacts with Washington. Miroshnik noted that Russia continues to insist on taking into account its interests, including the status of new territories that became part of it in 2022, and does not intend to retreat from its stated goals.
This position was confirmed by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov, who informed journalists about the upcoming visit of American representatives to Moscow. According to him, the US delegation will arrive in the coming days to convey to the Russian side the results of the negotiations held with Ukraine in Jeddah on March 11. Peskov specified that the process of informing has already been launched, and meetings with American negotiators will be part of the ongoing dialogue that began after Donald Trump was elected president of the United States. He refrained from giving details, emphasizing that the specifics will depend on the content of Washington's proposals.
The talks in Jeddah, reported by Reuters, were one of the new US administration's first attempts to work out a framework for freezing the conflict. The US proposed a 30-day truce, hoping to discuss it with Vladimir Putin personally, indicating Trump's desire to speed up de-escalation. However, according to Bloomberg, Kyiv insists on maintaining Western military support, fearing the loss of positions without security guarantees. At the same time, Russia, as Miroshnik previously noted in an interview with RIA Novosti, rules out discussing the status of new regions, considering them an integral part of the country.
