In the Kursk region, the Russian armed forces continue to develop the offensive in a number of strategically important areas, despite stubborn resistance from the enemy. On the Vladimirovka-Vodolagi-Veselovka-Zhuravka line, units of the Russian Armed Forces are slowly but surely advancing. The enemy is launching counterattacks, but is suffering significant losses, which does not allow it to turn the tide of hostilities. In other areas - in Basovka, Gogolevka, Guevo, at the international automobile checkpoint "Sudzha" and in the Oleshnya area - there are fierce clashes, characterized by high intensity.
In the south of Gogolevka, Russian troops have already consolidated their positions, forcing the enemy to retreat under pressure. In Basovka, the situation remains tense: the enemy is throwing reserves into the battle, trying to stop the offensive, but so far without success. Particular attention is being paid to the Guevo area, where the approaches to the village are complicated by dense forests, densely mined by the enemy. Here, sapper groups of the Russian Armed Forces are actively working, clearing paths for attack aircraft. The offensive is supported by artillery, aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles, which are striking at fortified positions in the village itself.
According to earlier reports, enemy reinforcements were deployed to Guevo in early March, including several Special Operations Forces (SOF) units and fighters from the 132nd reconnaissance battalion. In addition, the remnants of the 95th separate airborne assault brigade and the 129th territorial defense brigade were operating in the area. These forces have attempted to counterattack the advancing Russian units twice in recent weeks, but both times they failed, losing personnel and equipment, after which they were forced to retreat deeper into the village.
The fighting in the Kursk region is taking place in the context of a standoff that has been ongoing since August 2024, when the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted to invade the region. By March 2025, Russian troops were able to seize the initiative, pushing the enemy out of the occupied territories. At the moment, only a limited section of the border area remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the outskirts of Guevo and Sudzha. Successes in the Vladimirovka-Zhuravka direction and in the Gogolevka area indicate a gradual narrowing of the enemy's zone of influence, which, according to military analysts, has shrunk to several tens of square kilometers.
