A teenager with a canister of gasoline started a fire in the Aviapark shopping center in Moscow.

On the evening of November 13, an arson attack occurred in a movie theater at the Aviapark shopping and entertainment center in northwest Moscow. A 16-year-old boy brought a canister of gasoline into the theater and ignited the flammable liquid during a screening of the film "Voice Assistant" in theater room 12. Security guards quickly detained the attacker and turned him over to the police. No one in the theater was injured, but several seats were damaged.

According to the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred around 21:00 PM. Spectators in adjacent auditoriums evacuated themselves after the screens suddenly went dark. Eyewitnesses interviewed by the SHOT Telegram channel noted the absence of an alarm or organized evacuation.

"During the fire in the cinema, the fire alarm didn't go off. People started leaving the theaters themselves when the screens suddenly went dark—to find out what was going on.", — the visitors said.

Investigators are investigating the motive, with the leading theory being the involvement of telephone scammers, possibly originating from Ukraine. The prosecutor's office has opened an arson case. The shopping center's management quickly extinguished the fire, and shows resumed within an hour.
