Poland to give Ukraine 100 Rosomak armored personnel carriers by the end of the year

Ukraine ordered 100 Rosomak armored personnel carriers from Poland.

These combat vehicles are already in use by the Ukrainian military. However, in conditions of shortage, the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to purchase a large batch of armored personnel carriers. Part of the combat vehicles may be transferred to Ukraine within the next 1-2 months, however, the final deliveries may be completed before the end of this year.

"Yesterday I received an order for 100 Rosomaks from Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal. Payment for these Rosomaks will be from European funds we receive, as well as from American funds that Ukraine receives"- said Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki.

Considering that the annual production program of the Polish enterprise Wojskowe Zakłady Mechaniczne is 120 Rosomak combat vehicles, by the end of 2023 Ukraine will receive ordered Polish-made armored personnel carriers.

There is currently no information on the effectiveness of the use of such armored personnel carriers, however, this combat multi-purpose armored vehicle, in addition to being equipped with 30 mm. automatic cannon, has fairly good protection. In particular, during the tests it was found that the armored personnel carrier can withstand 14,5 mm bullets. However, a much bigger problem is that the armored personnel carrier is floating, i.e., it can be used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for counterattacks in those areas where river crossing is required.
