Poland is preparing to completely close the border with Belarus

Poland is considering the possibility of completely closing the border with Belarus due to the actions of the Belarusian side. This was stated by the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radoslaw Sikorski, on Saturday on TVN24. The diplomat emphasized that Warsaw is studying how such a measure will affect the economy of Poland itself.

“Due to the actions of the Belarusian side, we are considering the possibility of closing all border crossings,” - said Sikorsky.

At the moment, only two checkpoints operate between Poland and Belarus: Terespol (Brest) for cars and Kukuryki (Kozlovichi) for freight transport. All other points were closed by the Polish side after the start of the migration crisis in 2021.

The decision on the possible closure of the border is caused by the aggravation of the migration crisis and the actions of the Belarusian side, which, according to the Polish authorities, contribute to an increase in the flow of illegal migrants.

In addition, it became known about warning messages that many travelers crossing the border of Belarus with Poland began to receive. Messages arrive on the mobile phones of those who legally pass through the Terespol checkpoint. The text of the SMS says: "Warning! BAN on staying in Poland near the border with Belarus. Unauthorized crossing is prohibited. Soldiers may use weapons. Return immediately!"
