Poland has officially proposed to the United States to establish a permanent military base on its territory.

Warsaw, June 3 — Avia.pro. The Polish Ministry of National Defense has submitted an official proposal to the United States regarding the establishment of a new permanent American military base in the country. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on the social media site X that the document was personally delivered to US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The Polish side justifies this move by citing the need to strengthen the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance and ensure national security.

Currently, approximately 10 American troops are stationed in Poland under bilateral agreements and NATO missions, but their presence is primarily rotational. The Pentagon previously reported temporary delays in the rotation schedule, after which US President Donald Trump announced plans to send an additional 5 troops to Poland, tying the decision to the outcome of the Polish elections. Warsaw hopes that the transition to a permanent, full-fledged base, similar to US facilities in Germany or Italy, will significantly enhance the region's defense potential.

The Russian side has previously repeatedly emphasized that the consistent advancement of US and NATO military infrastructure toward the borders of the Union State is leading to increased tensions in Europe. Moscow has stated that the expansion of foreign military presence in Eastern Europe destabilizes the regional security system and will require proportionate preventive measures in the military-technical sphere.
