Poland will send up to 100 T-72 tanks to Ukraine

Poland intends to transfer up to 100 T-72 tanks to Ukraine against the background of the purchase of American M1 Abrams.

Poland in the coming days may transfer to Ukraine about three tank battalions of T-72 tanks from its own armed forces. The source reports that the United States has already held talks with Poland and a decision was made to transfer part of the equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Moreover, it became known that the United States pledged to expedite the delivery of M1 Abrams tanks to Poland.

The delivery of T-72 tanks to Ukraine may begin today, as it became known in the morning that at least five T-72M1 tanks from the Czech Republic were delivered by rail. This does not exclude the possibility that some of the equipment will be additionally taken from the territory of Poland.

To date, Poland is armed with more than 700 T-72 tanks, which Poland wants to write off in the near future, including through the acquisition of a large batch of American M1 Abrams tanks.

So far, Poland has not made any official statements on this subject, however, it became known earlier that the United States is negotiating with countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, etc. on the conditions for the supply of T-72 tanks for Ukraine, since, taking into account the official data of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, most of the Ukrainian armored vehicles were destroyed.
