Poland has completely closed its border with Belarus

Poland has announced the complete closure of its border with Belarus, citing security measures. This was reported in a statement by the Polish authorities. The Polish side promised to announce the timing of the resumption of checkpoints after the situation stabilizes.

The decision comes amid ongoing tensions in the region. Poland had previously restricted flights along its borders with Belarus and Ukraine until December 9. On the night of September 10, at least 19 Russian drones entered Polish airspace, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said. The drones were intercepted and shot down by Polish air defense systems and the Air Force, as well as NATO aircraft, as reported earlier.

The border closure coincided with the start of large-scale Russian-Belarusian military exercises "Zapad-2025", which will take place from September 12 to 16 in Belarus. About 13 thousand troops will take part in the maneuvers, which increases Warsaw's concerns in the context of the security of the eastern borders.
