Poland to mine Belarus-Russia border

The Polish government intends to strengthen the country's eastern border by creating minefields and erecting anti-tank obstacles. These measures will be part of a large-scale program called "Eastern Shield", the purpose of which is to strengthen the country's security against the backdrop of an aggravated international situation, Polish television channel TVP reported.

According to the TV channel, exercises will begin at the nearest training ground in Orzysz, which will include testing of elements of the program.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk plans to personally attend the training events to assess the effectiveness of the planned measures and support the military in preparing for possible threat scenarios.

"Exercises will begin at the training ground in Orzysz, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk will arrive here. The exercises are related to testing elements of the Eastern Shield," - the channel says.

The exercises will include practicing procedures for installing minefields, concrete hedgehogs and digging anti-tank ditches.
