Attempts by refugees to break through the Belarusian-Polish border have practically ceased

The situation on the border between Belarus and Poland, where a significant influx of migrants was recorded earlier this year, changed dramatically after the Polish military was officially allowed to open fire to kill against those attempting to illegally cross the border or taking threatening actions against border guards and military personnel. This decision immediately led to the fact that attempts at mass border breakthroughs practically came to naught.

According to data coming from Polish sources, there have been virtually no cases of mass border crossings since the introduction of the new rules. Refugees who used to storm the border en masse are now trying to avoid such attempts, fearing serious consequences. The tension that previously accompanied the border areas has significantly decreased, and the number of incidents has been reduced to a minimum.

Let us recall that earlier a critical situation developed on the border between Poland and Belarus: thousands of migrants tried to break through the border fences, which led to clashes with Polish security forces. Refugees, mainly from the Middle East and Africa, arrived in Belarus with the intention of entering the European Union through Polish territory.
