Poroshenko Accuses Ukrainian Armed Forces Command of Unsuccessful "Meat Assaults"

Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has sharply criticized the tactics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces command, accusing it of organizing “meat assaults” and excessive losses among Ukrainian soldiers. In an interview for the Atlantic Council think tank, Poroshenko called for abandoning offensive operations and focusing on strengthening defenses.

According to Poroshenko, the Ukrainian army should not use people as a tool for risky operations.

"We must stop using the people of Ukraine as a tool for 'meat storm' operations," “he stressed, adding that such actions lead to huge losses and negative long-term consequences.

Poroshenko also expressed concern about the tactics of recapturing captured positions, such as forest areas, which are accompanied by heavy losses.

"Some officers are afraid to report to the higher-ups that we are losing this territory and are sending people on deadly missions," - he said.

The former president insists that Ukraine should follow Russia's example in the spring of 2023 by focusing on building defensive fortifications and creating strategic reserves.

Poroshenko pointed out that instead of demonstrative military successes for television, the focus should be on protecting personnel and ensuring their safety.
