After the strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Zaporizhzhya NPP, a fire broke out on the territory of the station

The Ukrainian military fired at least 10 shells at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

An unexpected attack by the Ukrainian military fell on the area where the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was located. According to local sources, about 10 shells fell in the area of the station's commandant's office, next to the welding site and storage of radiation sources, as well as near the fire station not far from the station.

The attack of the Ukrainian military on the nuclear power plant was extremely unexpected. At the moment, actions are being taken to repel an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since any damage to a nuclear reactor or a fall of shells on storage sites for spent nuclear fuel can lead to tragic consequences for a vast region, since the Zaporozhye NPP is one of the largest nuclear power plants in the world.

According to Energodar residents, columns of rising smoke can be seen at the sites where Ukrainian shells fell, while there is no evidence of possible damage to the nuclear power plant at the current moment.

At the moment, experts are busy assessing the possible damage from the shelling, however, the attack by the Ukrainian military itself took place against the backdrop of the fact that the UN demanded that Russia and Ukraine provide a security perimeter at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
