The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Israel has released statistics on the conflict known as the Iron Swords War, which began on October 7 last year. During the 11 months of intense fighting, 1664 Israelis were killed, including 706 IDF soldiers. The conflict remains one of the bloodiest in the region in decades and the situation remains extremely tense.

According to INSS, 101 hostages remain in captivity in the Gaza Strip. Some of them have died, but the exact figures for each case are not yet known. Negotiations for the release of the hostages are ongoing, but the results so far remain modest. These hostages remain one of the most painful topics for Israeli society and government structures.
