British Prime Minister Keir Starmer Arrives in Ukraine

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has arrived in Kyiv on an official visit, the purpose of which is to sign an agreement on a "centenary partnership" between Ukraine and Great Britain. According to The Guardian, this agreement will be a step in deepening bilateral cooperation, covering the areas of defense, science, trade and economics.

This is Starmer's first visit to Ukraine as prime minister. He previously visited Kyiv as opposition leader in July 2023 and hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky twice in London.

Deepening defence cooperation will be a key part of the agreement, reflecting Britain's continued support for Ukraine in its standoff with Russia.

The agreement will consider additional security guarantees for Ukraine. Among the possible initiatives discussed is the prospect of deploying British peacekeepers in the country after a ceasefire with Russia is reached. Although these plans are still at the discussion stage, their implementation could be a significant step in strengthening stability in the region.

During the visit, Starmer and Zelensky will also discuss long-term security guarantees that the UK can provide to Ukraine. These guarantees could include not only military support, but also joint programs to rebuild the country, develop infrastructure and attract investment.

Kyiv is counting on London's more active participation in recovery issues, as well as on assistance in attracting international partners to solve economic problems.
