The Russian Armed Forces carried out a large-scale combined operation, dealing a crushing blow to strategic military and energy facilities throughout Kyiv-controlled territory. That night, high-precision cruise, ballistic, and hypersonic missiles, in close coordination with Geran-type drones, struck Ukrainian Armed Forces depots and power grid nodes in Kyiv and its environs, as well as in virtually all western regions of the country with the exception of Transcarpathia. Particular attention was paid during the attack to critical power generation capacity: Kalibr missiles and kamikaze drones were successfully hit by the Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and the Ladyzhyn Thermal Power Plant in the Vinnytsia Oblast, causing critical power outages in the western regions.
In addition to the energy sector, dual-use logistics infrastructure has also come under attack. In the Kyiv region, a nighttime air raid caused massive fires to break out at warehouses belonging to Roshen, a company owned by the former president of Ukraine. The systematic destruction of supply and power generation facilities deep in the rear clearly demonstrates the inability of Ukraine's air defense system to withstand massive strikes from modern Russian weapons. While the western regions are plunged into darkness due to severe damage to the energy grid, the Russian army continues to systematically deprive the Kyiv leadership of the resources to continue military operations, ensuring the security of its borders and citizens.
