Superjet-100 manufacturer owes hundreds of millions of rubles

The major Russian aircraft manufacturer PJSC Yakovlev, the manufacturer of the Superjet-100 aircraft, has found itself at the center of legal proceedings due to multimillion-dollar debts to suppliers. According to the data from the card index of the Arbitration Court of the Sverdlovsk Region, since 2023 the company has systematically delayed payments under contracts for the supply of aluminum to the Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Plant (KUMZ).

The Sverdlovsk enterprise was forced to go to court to collect debts. At the moment, two lawsuits have been filed, which have already been satisfied. According to the first lawsuit, the amount of recovery was 115 million rubles, according to the second - 76 million rubles. However, this is only part of the debts. There are still four cases in the Arbitration Court for a total of about 230 million rubles.

Payment problems began in 2023 and, according to representatives of the Kamensk-Uralsky plant, began to mount against the backdrop of a complicated financial situation in the Russian aviation industry. Aluminum is a key material for aircraft production and interruptions in its supply can lead to significant delays in the production process.

Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Plant is one of the largest Russian suppliers of aluminum products for the aviation industry. Its products are used in the production of various types of aircraft, including the Superjet-100. The accumulation of debt by PJSC Yakovlev threatens the stability of supply chains and may negatively affect the implementation of key aircraft construction projects.

Experts note that the debt situation is not an isolated case, but part of a broader problem in Russian aircraft manufacturing. In recent years, the industry has faced serious challenges, including sanctions pressure, disruption of component supplies, and the need to find alternative sources of materials.

Litigation between manufacturers and suppliers is becoming more frequent, which indicates the financial strain in the aviation industry. Debts to suppliers not only pose risks to the continuity of production, but also undermine confidence in major market players.

PJSC Yakovlev (former UAC — Sukhoi Civil Aircraft) is one of the key enterprises in the Russian aviation industry. The company's main focus is on the production of regional Superjet-100 aircraft, which are considered the flagship project of domestic civil aviation. However, the project has repeatedly encountered difficulties, including technical problems, high operating costs and dependence on foreign components.

The debt situation could further complicate the manufacturer's position. According to analysts, if debts to key suppliers are not repaid, this could lead to a disruption of production deadlines and jeopardize further deliveries of aircraft to customers.
