A dam has broken in the Shelabolikha district of the Altai region, which has had serious consequences for local residents. According to the head of the district administration, Alexander Shushunov, the dams that held water in the Mirror Lakes could not withstand the large volume of precipitation that had accumulated during this rainy summer. Despite efforts to strengthen the structures, the water pressure was too strong.
As a result of the breakthrough, all the water rushed into the riverbed dividing the village of Shelabolikha, which led to the destruction of the road connecting the two parts of the settlement. At the moment, transport communication between the parts of the village is completely disrupted. Local residents found themselves in a difficult situation, since without this road it is impossible to reach important infrastructure facilities.
The head of the district reported the situation on his Telegram channel and noted that special services are working at the scene. Work is underway to eliminate the consequences of the breakthrough and restore road communications.
The village of Shelabolikha, where more than three thousand people live, is located 85 kilometers from Barnaul. The authorities have not yet specified how soon the road will be restored and possible new flooding will be prevented, but local services are doing everything possible to minimize damage and ensure the safety of the population.
