A criminal case of espionage was opened against the journalist of The Wall Street Journal Evan Gershkovich in Russia

According to information received from the Federal Security Service (FSB), against a journalist from The Wall Street Journal, Evan Gershkovich, a criminal case was opened for espionage in the Russian Federation. It is assumed that the journalist was collecting information about one of the enterprises of the Russian Military-Industrial Complex (VPK).

According to some reports, on the eve of the initiation of the case, Gershkovich disappeared in Yekaterinburg. According to media reports, after the journalist did not get in touch, his colleagues began to worry and turned to the Russian authorities for help.

In turn, the representative of the FSB stated that a criminal case had been initiated against Gershkovich in accordance with Part 1 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Espionage). It is assumed that the journalist illegally obtained information that is a state secret and passed it on to foreign state organizations.
