On May 29, at a press conference following his visit to Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin stated that, in his opinion, an incident involving a Ukrainian drone most likely took place in Romania.
"After all, we know that Ukrainian drones have flown into Finland, Poland, and somewhere in the Baltic states. The initial reaction was exactly the same as now in Romania: 'Help, the Russians are coming, the Russians are shooting!'" Said the president.
Putin emphasized that it is impossible to determine the aircraft's origin without an official examination. He added that in previous cases, it was later discovered that the drones had no connection to Russia: they had been deviated from their course due to electronic warfare systems or technical malfunctions.
"If we are given any objective data and drone remains, we will conduct an objective investigation. Only then will we be able to assess what happened." - said the Russian leader.
He also recalled that Moscow had previously handed over to the United States the remains of the drones that attacked the presidential residence and expects a similar approach from the Romanian side.
