Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose 73rd birthday was on October 7, did not receive congratulations from US President Donald Trump. This was stated by Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov at a briefing, responding to a question from journalists.
Putin himself had previously congratulated Trump on his 79th birthday by phone on June 14. However, since August, when the leaders summarized their meeting in Alaska, there have been no publicly reported personal contacts. The last conversation took place in the context of a discussion of the Ukrainian crisis and the results of the Anchorage talks.
Peskov's statement comes amid tense relations between Moscow and Washington, despite periodic diplomatic contacts. Trump previously threatened to impose tariffs on BRICS countries, which, he claims, had an effect.
