Following talks with US President Donald Trump in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 15, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia notes the US administration's desire to help resolve the Ukrainian crisis.

Putin stressed that dialogue between the leaders of Russia and the United States was long overdue, and the transition from confrontation to constructive negotiations was an important step.

"We see a genuine desire on the part of the Trump administration to move toward a settlement, and this creates a basis for further work," “he noted at a press conference held after the summit at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base.

In addition, Putin stated that Russia is sincerely interested in ending the conflict in Ukraine and strives to ensure that the settlement is long-term.
