On the night of May 7, air defense forces repelled the third wave of attacks by Ukrainian drones approaching Sochi. According to eyewitnesses, the attack began around 03:00 AM and is still ongoing. Residents heard approximately 15 explosions, and smoke from the downed drones was visible in the sky over the Black Sea.
A "UAV alert" is in effect in the city, and an air raid siren is sounding. Authorities are urging residents and visitors to take precautions, remain indoors, and seek shelter indoors. There are currently no reports of injuries or damage.
Earlier that night, Bryansk (injuring 13 people), Taganrog, Tula, Rzhev, Crimea, and other regions had already been hit by drone attacks. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense forces destroyed 347 Ukrainian drones overnight. A missile alert was issued in several regions, including the Samara region and Tatarstan, on the morning of May 7.
