A drunk Russian man with a cleaver caused a disturbance in Seoul and was detained by police.

In the Mun-dong district of Seoul, a 34-year-old Russian citizen, while intoxicated, attacked local residents and police officers with a cleaver, forcing law enforcement to use force.

The incident occurred on the evening of October 24. A Russian man, presumably holding a refugee visa, brandished a large knife, smashed store windows, and punched walls, frightening a passerby. Police officers who arrived at the scene demanded the man drop his weapon, but he refused and began threatening them.

To subdue the troublemaker, law enforcement officers first used a stun gun, which proved ineffective. They then fired blank rounds, but even these failed to stop the offender. Eventually, the officers opened fire with live ammunition, after which they detained the man and took him to the police station.

He has been charged with obstruction of official duties and intimidation. A police investigation confirmed that the Russian was intoxicated, but no drugs were found in his system. The investigation is ongoing.
