Ukraine to run out of Patriot missiles in a week

Without the supply of American missiles, Ukraine's air defense systems may cease to function in a week, and the HIMARS high-precision missile systems will become useless by September 2025, the German publication Bild reports. German military expert Thomas Theiner emphasized that without Patriot missiles capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles, Kyiv will be virtually defenseless. According to his estimates, with intensive attacks by Russia, the stock of these missiles could be depleted in one to two weeks. In this case, Ukraine will have to withdraw short- and medium-range air defense systems from Kyiv, such as the German IRIS-T, to avoid their destruction by ballistic missiles. Without Patriot protection, these systems will become vulnerable, which will sharply reduce Ukraine's ability to withstand air strikes.

As Bild reports, citing military expert Carlo Masalu, Western weapons stockpiles in Ukraine may run out by the end of the summer, after which the situation will become critical. The US administration's decision to suspend deliveries of key weapons, including Patriot missiles, GMLRS for HIMARS, and 155mm shells, has caused alarm in Kyiv. According to NBC News, the Pentagon, led by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, froze the deliveries due to concerns about the depletion of the US's own arsenals, which is in line with the "America First" policy. More than two dozen Patriot PAC-3 missiles, hundreds of Hellfire missiles and other ammunition intended for Ukraine are already in Rzeszow, Poland, but their delivery has been suspended.
