Experts named the reason for the large-scale losses of T-72 tanks in Karabakh.

For a relatively short armed conflict in Karabakh, Armenia and the Artsakh army lost dozens of T-72 tanks (meaning the number of destroyed tanks - ed.) Of various modifications. Despite the fact that this combat vehicle is perfectly adapted to conduct this kind of hostilities, it became known that a flaw in the tank's developers led to the fact that it turned from a hunter into a victim.

According to experts, the reason for the large-scale losses was the shortcomings of Soviet designers, who did not envisage the use of high-precision weapons against these combat vehicles, which turned out to be Turkish drones. The fault was the too thin armor in the upper part of the tank, which could not withstand missile hits.

As follows from the data of Middle Eastern analysts, during the period of the hostilities, about a hundred T-72 tanks of Soviet modifications were destroyed, moreover, the overwhelming number of combat vehicles were hit by drones.

In total, according to some data, Armenia lost almost $ 4 billion in weapons and equipment during the hostilities, although according to unofficial data this figure may be 1,5-2 times more.
