The Investigative Committee of Russia has completed its investigation into the criminal case of the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk, which claimed the lives of 145 people. Nineteen defendants have already begun to familiarize themselves with the case materials. After this procedure is completed, the documents will be submitted to the court for consideration on the merits. The terrorist attack that occurred on March 19, 22, became one of the largest in the modern history of the country, causing a wide public outcry and raising new questions about security.
According to the investigation, the attack was directly carried out by six citizens of Central Asian countries, who are currently wanted and arrested in absentia. Their whereabouts remain unknown, but Russian law enforcement agencies continue to actively search for them. Petrenko emphasized that the special services of an “unfriendly state” were behind the organization and planning of the crime, whose goal was to destabilize the internal situation in Russia. The specific state was not named in the official statement, but previously the media repeatedly suggested the possible involvement of external forces, including Ukraine, which Kiev categorically denies.
The investigation managed to meticulously reconstruct the entire chain of events related to the preparation and implementation of the terrorist attack. The actions of the accomplices at each stage were established: from the planning of the attack to the moment of the attack on the visitors of the concert hall, the arson of the auditorium and the attempt to escape from the crime scene. The final link in the chronology was the detention of a number of defendants by law enforcement officers in the Bryansk region several hours after the tragedy. The attack took place on the evening of March 22, 2024, when a group of armed men broke into the building before a concert of the Piknik group, opened indiscriminate fire from machine guns and started a fire that led to numerous casualties.
