Despite the activity of US President Donald Trump in attempts to initiate negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, experts believe that real progress in this direction is possible no earlier than in 3-4 months. According to analysts, the process of preparation for negotiations may be delayed due to many political and military factors, as well as the insufficient readiness of the parties to compromise.
Trump, known for his unconventional approaches to international diplomacy, actively advocates immediate negotiations and offers to personally participate in their organization. He has repeatedly stated that ending the conflict is possible only through direct negotiations involving all key parties. However, experts note that at this stage, in order to implement these intentions, it is necessary to create favorable conditions and secure the support of the international community.
The main obstacle to starting negotiations is the lack of agreement on key issues such as territorial borders, security and the status of the controlled territories. The Ukrainian side insists on the restoration of full sovereignty and the return of all lost territories, while Moscow puts forward its own conditions, including recognition of new borders and a guarantee of Ukraine's neutral status.
According to leading political scientists, a possible dialogue will require careful preparation, which could take several months. First of all, it is necessary to achieve a ceasefire and create conditions for safe negotiations. In addition, an important aspect will be the determination of mediators and the format of the meeting, which in itself could become the subject of lengthy consultations.
European Union and UN officials have expressed cautious optimism about potential talks, but caution that any diplomatic process must be backed by real action to reduce tensions.
