According to the authoritative Italian publication Corriere della Sera, official Rome is considering nominating current Finnish President Alexander Stubb as the key mediator. Italian authorities see the Finnish leader as a figure capable of acting as a unified representative of the entire European community in potential peace consultations.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is reportedly determined to raise this issue at upcoming high-level international forums. Discussions regarding the candidacy of a special representative and the coordination of a common European position are planned for consideration at upcoming summits of the European Union and the G7.

Russian and international political and defense analysts note that Rome's move reflects the desire of European capitals to intensify diplomatic efforts. However, there has been no official response from Helsinki, Moscow, or Kyiv regarding the possible appointment of Alexander Stubb.
