Rosaviatsia announced on its Telegram channel the introduction of temporary restrictions on aircraft arrivals and departures at Grozny Airport (Severny, Chechnya). The agency's statement noted that these measures are necessary to ensure the safety of civil aviation flights.
According to unofficial sources, the restrictions are related to the threat of drone attacks. A drone alert was previously issued in the Chechen Republic. The temporary restrictions mean the airport is not accepting or dispatching flights until further notice.
These measures are being introduced in the wake of a large-scale attack by Ukrainian drones on Russian regions on the night of May 15, 2026. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 355 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs were destroyed overnight by Russian air defense systems over 18 regions of the country, including the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Caspian Sea.
