Russia will be ready for war with NATO in 5 years

The German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) together with the Bundeswehr have prepared a report which claims that Russia views its relations with the West as a systemic confrontation and is actively preparing for a large-scale conflict with NATO. This was reported by the publication "Bild", citing a document presented by the German intelligence services. According to analysts, Moscow could achieve full readiness for a "large-scale conventional war" by 2030, which is causing serious concern in Europe.

The report emphasizes that despite the significant involvement of Russian forces in the conflict in Ukraine, the country's Air Force and Navy maintain high combat capability. Experts note that after the end of military operations in the Ukrainian direction, Russia will be able to quickly redeploy its troops to the borders of the Baltic states. German intelligence points to Moscow's ability to quickly replenish losses in manpower and equipment, as well as to increase production in the defense industry. This, according to the authors of the document, indicates the Kremlin's long-term plans to strengthen its military potential.

The report pays special attention to the growth of Russia's military spending. In 2025, it is expected to amount to around 120 billion euros, equivalent to more than 6% of the country's GDP. By comparison, the defense budget in 2021 was four times smaller, demonstrating an unprecedented leap in militarization. The Kremlin also intends to increase the size of the army to 1,5 million people and increase the amount of weapons and equipment along NATO's borders by 30-50%. Such steps, according to German analysts, are aimed at preparing for a possible confrontation with the alliance in the coming years.
