First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Alexei Zhuravlev has allowed the possibility of supplying Venezuela with Russia's latest Oreshnik missile system. In an interview with Gazeta.Ru, he stated that Moscow already supplies Caracas with a wide range of weapons and sees no obstacles to the transfer of advanced technologies.
“I don’t see any obstacles to supplying a friendly country with new developments like the Oreshnik,” - said Zhuravlev.
According to him, Russia remains Venezuela's main military-technical partner, supplying "almost the entire range of weapons—from small arms to aircraft." Su-30MK2 fighters form the backbone of the Venezuelan Air Force, making the country one of the leading aviation powers in the region.
The parliamentarian mentioned recent deliveries: S-300VM (Antey-2500) battalions, Pantsir-S1, and Buk-M2E systems, delivered by an Il-76 aircraft. He did not rule out the transfer of Kalibr missiles. The exact quantities and designations are classified, so "the Americans could be in for some surprises," Zhuravlev noted. International obligations do not restrict such deliveries.
