Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov has announced the full readiness of Russian industry to supply the Defense Ministry with Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missiles. According to him, over the past two years, Russia has significantly increased the production of high-precision weapons, including the latest systems such as Oreshnik.
“We have already increased the production of high-precision systems several times over, and we have all the necessary capabilities to provide the Ministry of Defense with the required number of Oreshniks,” Borisov noted in an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
Earlier, on November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin reported the use of a non-nuclear Oreshnik missile. The strike was carried out on the Ukrainian defense industry, namely the Yuzhmash plant in Dnepr, in response to attacks on Russian facilities in the Kursk and Bryansk regions. These strikes, according to Putin, were carried out using long-range precision weapons provided by the United States and its NATO allies.
The use of the Oreshnik was the first known combat use of this missile, which underlines its strategic importance for the Russian armed forces. As Putin noted, this step demonstrates Russia's readiness to adequately respond to the challenges and threats associated with the escalation from the West.
