Russia News, December 8, 2025, Avia.proThe materials of the criminal case on the genocide of the population of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics have been transferred to the Supreme Court of the DPR for consideration. This was announced on Monday by the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, which approved the indictment against Ukraine's top political and military leaders.
The 41 defendants include former President Petro Poroshenko, former head of the presidential office Andriy Yermak, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny, former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, and other officials.
According to investigators, since April 2014, the defendants ordered punitive operations that resulted in the deaths of nearly 5 civilians and the injury of over 18,5 people, including over 13,5 wounded, 1275 of whom were minors. All defendants have fled the investigation and are wanted internationally. Moscow's Basmanny District Court sentenced them in absentia to pretrial detention.
