Russia prepares to test the latest long-range OTRK

The Russian military is completing tests of the latest long-range OTRK.

The Russian military is preparing to begin testing the latest long-range tactical missile system, which is a platform capable of delivering a strike with Kalibr cruise missiles. In fact, we are talking about a land-based version of the sea-based missile complex "Caliber", which, as the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu said two years earlier, should have been developed in 2020.

“At the same time, they are actively working on the creation of ground-based missiles with a firing range of more than 500 kilometers, which goes beyond the treaty limits. In this regard, the President of Russia [Vladimir Putin] has given the Ministry of Defense the task of responding to mirror measures. "- said Sergei Shoigu during a conference call, highlighting the tasks of the Russian army after the US withdrawal from the INF Treaty.

According to Sergei Shoigu, the development of the ground-based version of the Kalibr missile system was to be completed in 2020, which indicates that by the end of this year, the first tests of the latest Russian weapons, which are expected to have a target range of over 1 thousand kilometers.

"Caliber" is not an OTRK. This is a long-range strategic missile system. The launch range is up to 2600 km in non-nuclear equipment and presumably up to 4000-5000 km in nuclear equipment.
