Russia and Ukraine held an exchange of prisoners

Russia extradited 215 prisoners of war to Ukraine, returning 200 military personnel from Ukrainian captivity and freeing the Ukrainian oligarch Medvedchuk.

The night before, an exchange of prisoners of war took place between the Russian and Ukrainian sides. The exchange was carried out with the direct mediation of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. At the same time, the Russian side returned 200 servicemen from captivity and released the previously arrested Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk, and Ukraine was able to get 215 servicemen from captivity.

It is noteworthy that the members of the Azov regiment banned in Russia, including the commanders of this unit, were also returned to the Ukrainian side. This raised a number of questions as to what exactly caused such an exchange, since earlier it was not supposed to release Azov members from captivity.

Among other things, it is also known about the release of 10 foreign mercenaries who were threatened with the death penalty for participating in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine.

At the moment, there are no official statements from Moscow on this matter, and therefore the circumstances of the exchange of prisoners of war that took place have so far remained undisclosed.
