Russia to study OPCW report on chemical use in Ukraine

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Netherlands and the Permanent Representative of Russia to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Vladimir Tarabrin stated that Moscow intends to study the organization’s report on the use of chemical substances on the territory of Ukraine and present its response.

In his statement, the diplomat stressed that Russia does not see the need to conduct investigations in Ukraine under the auspices of the OPCW.

The situation around the allegations of chemical use remains extremely tense. Western countries have previously repeatedly stated that international norms may have been violated in Ukraine, which has drawn sharp criticism from Moscow.

At the same time, the OPCW report contains indications of the need for further investigation, which causes disagreement among the members of the organization.
