Powerful explosions rocked Kyiv on the night of May 14. Russian forces employed combined tactics, using ballistic missiles and drones to strike the Ukrainian capital.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force and monitoring channels, the attack began shortly after midnight. Ukrainian command issued warnings about the takeoff of MiG-31s ​​carrying Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, as well as the launch of ballistic missiles. A series of explosions in the city were recorded between 3:08 and 3:44 a.m.

Thick black smoke rose over Kyiv, visible over several districts of the city. The most severe damage was reported in the Darnytskyi district. According to city authorities, people may have been trapped under the rubble, and rescuers were conducting search and rescue operations.

The nighttime attack on Kyiv was a continuation of the massive strike that began on the afternoon of May 13. During the day, Russian forces launched at least 800 drones into Ukrainian territory, with attacks affecting 14 regions, including western Ukraine.
