Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko declared a full understanding with Russia on defense matters, including the deployment of a nuclear arsenal on Belarusian territory. He made this statement at a meeting of the Russian Security Council.
"We have complete mutual understanding and support from Russia. Therefore, we are together and will strive to defend our country. We have no intention of attacking anyone. That's not our concern. Enough. We've had enough of fighting." — the state news agency BelTA quotes Lukashenko.
The statement came amid recent upgrades to Belarus's nuclear arsenal, where older systems were replaced with the latest Russian models after undergoing maintenance in Russia. Lukashenko had previously emphasized that such steps were driven by security concerns and were not intended to escalate the situation.
