Russia refused to get rid of nuclear weapons

Russia will continue to maintain the status of a nuclear power.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, made a statement in which he emphasized that Russia would not join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and would retain the current status of a nuclear power.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that Russia appreciates its intention to ensure a nuclear-free world, however, other states do not seek to abandon the status of nuclear powers, which is a unilateral method of achieving such goals.

Among other things, Sergey Lavrov emphasized that Russia began to develop medium- and short-range missiles, and symmetrically to the actions of the United States, it will be ready to take them into service.

It should be noted that with the development of new types of weapons, Russia began to significantly surpass the United States in its military potential, in particular, we are talking about hypersonic missiles that have already been adopted by the country, while in the United States they are only trying to master this technology, while the missiles themselves are similar type will appear in the arsenal of the American army only after 5-6 years.
