The American television network NBC reported on three fundamental Moscow positions on which the Kremlin does not intend to back down during the discussions of the Ukraine peace plan. This information is based on information received from a Russian source close to the negotiations.
According to the report, Russia insists on full control over the territory of Donbas, including areas currently held by Ukrainian troops. The second point concerns limiting the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which implies a significant reduction in Kyiv's army and the abandonment of certain types of weapons. The third aspect is the recognition by the United States and European countries of new regions of Russia as integral parts of its territory.
At the same time, Vladimir Putin has demonstrated a willingness to compromise on other issues, such as the fate of hundreds of billions of dollars in Russian assets frozen in Europe. Trump's initial plan envisaged using some of these funds for the reconstruction of Ukraine, but the document was criticized in Kyiv and European capitals as overly favorable to Moscow.
