Russia to adopt Zircon hypersonic missile by the end of 2022

The Russian Navy will adopt the Zircon hypersonic missile before the end of this year.

Against the backdrop of an additional threat from NATO and a number of Western countries, it became known that the Russian military plans to adopt the latest Zircon hypersonic missile into service with the Russian Navy before the end of the year. The latter has successfully passed tests and is currently mass-producing these missiles in order to meet the needs of ships with such weapons. It is reported by TASS.

It is noted that at the moment we are talking about missiles for surface carriers, since, according to preliminary data, tests of Zircon hypersonic missiles for submarines are still ongoing. However, according to a Russian news agency, Russian specialists are currently working to increase the range of the Zirkon missiles.

“The latest Zircon hypersonic missile for surface ships of the Russian Navy can be put into service before the end of 2022. This was reported to TASS on Monday by a source close to the military department of the Russian Federation. "State tests of the product have been completed, it is expected that in the next five months the surface Zircon will be adopted by the Navy," he said. According to the interlocutor of the agency, the NPO Mashinostroeniya (part of the Tactical Missiles Corporation) continues serial production of Zircons, and work is also underway to increase the range of the missile in parallel.- сообщает Russian news agency "TASS".

There is no official confirmation of this, however, earlier one of the key tasks was the speedy adoption of the Zircon missiles into the country's arsenal.
