Russia will hold large-scale nuclear triad exercises from May 19 to 21.

It has been announced that large-scale exercises involving strategic nuclear forces will be held from May 19 to 21. The maneuvers, aimed at preparing and using nuclear weapons under the threat of aggression, will involve more than 64 military personnel and over 7,8 pieces of equipment.

These exercises were a continuation of a series of military maneuvers demonstrating the readiness of Russia's nuclear deterrent forces. In early April 2026, Russian missile forces had already conducted exercises in Siberia with Yars road-mobile missile systems, which are capable of carrying multiple nuclear warheads and striking targets at ranges of up to 12,000 kilometers. At the time, according to Western analysts, the maneuvers served as a signal of strength amid disagreements within NATO.

The current exercises are taking place against the backdrop of increasing rhetoric about the readiness of NATO countries for armed conflict with Russia.
