Russia test-launched an unknown intercontinental ballistic missile

On April 12, 2024, a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile was successfully carried out at the Kapustin Yar test site, located in the Astrakhan region. The test was carried out by a combat crew of the Strategic Missile Forces of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to the department, the rocket was launched as part of state testing of the latest missile systems. The main goal of this event was to confirm the stability and reliability of the missiles that are already in service with the Russian army.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that all assigned tasks were completed in full, and the test results indicate the high reliability and efficiency of domestic missile systems. These missiles play a key role in ensuring the country's strategic security, supporting its defense capability in the international arena.

According to a number of assumptions, the launched ICBM could carry a hypersonic glide module.
