Russia thwarted the plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO to declassify modern S-300 air defense systems

Russia declassified the Ukrainian spy, frustrating the long-term plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO.

Difficulties in relations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine are not something unique. Back in April 2019, the Ukrainian agent A.V. Marchenko for attempting to smuggle spare parts of the S-300 air defense system, which would allow Ukraine not only to take advantage of the opportunity to gain access to secret technologies, but also to modernize its complexes, and also, probably, to develop a strategy to combat Russian air defense.

In May 2018, from an employee of the SVR of Ukraine, Petr Khomenko, Marchenko allegedly received a task that consisted in the acquisition of modern klystrons. Klystrons are electronic tubes for generating ultrahigh frequencies, which are a spare part of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system. To implement the plan, he allegedly received $ 163.

As planned, the secret items were to be sent through an intermediary firm in Macedonia to the Ukrainian state arms exporter Ukroboronservice. This was reported by the press service of the FSB.

However, the Ukrainian spy was detained and sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to take out spare parts of the S-300 air defense system, and the amount paid by Marchenko will be considered the property of the Russian government.

Relations between Russia and Ukraine are becoming more and more tense, and although Moscow is counting on the earliest possible de-escalation of the situation both at its borders and in the Donbass, Kiev is clearly not ready for such a step and continues to make provocations.
