Moscow, July 8 — Avia.pro. The Russian government has decided to impose a complete ban on diesel fuel exports outside the country. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak officially announced this during a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and members of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to a relevant official, this decision is dictated by the need to stabilize the domestic situation. As part of the implementation of a series of measures to saturate the market, Novak also added that this month Russia will begin importing motor fuel from other countries to meet the emerging demand.

The country had previously implemented mechanisms to restrict the export of gasoline and jet fuel. The introduction of a complete embargo on diesel fuel supplies is aimed at minimizing the risk of domestic fuel and lubricant shortages and fixing prices at an economically feasible level.

Relevant agencies emphasize that the transition to imported fuel is a temporary, tactical move. In parallel with fuel purchases abroad, oil companies have been instructed to optimize maintenance schedules at refineries and maximize domestic production.
