The Russian Defense Ministry reported the liberation of two settlements in the Donetsk People's Republic as part of an ongoing special military operation. As a result of successful offensive actions, Petrovka in the Pokrovsk direction and Ilyinka in Kurakhovsk came under the control of Russian troops.

As the Avia.pro source specifies, the operation to liberate Petrovka was carried out by units of the "Center" group of troops operating in the northwest of the DPR. At the same time, the "Southern" group of troops successfully completed combat operations in the Ilyinka area, located closer to the front line in the southwest.

Experts note that these victories are an important step in the development of the offensive of Russian forces in the region. Petrovka and Ilyinka are of strategic importance, since their control strengthens positions in two key areas: Pokrovskoe and Kurakhovskoe. Taking these points opens up opportunities for further advancement deep into the territory controlled by Ukrainian troops and complicates their maneuvers.
