Under the declared Easter truce, which is in effect until midnight on April 21, 2025, Russian and Ukrainian servicemen have begun evacuating the bodies of the dead from the so-called gray zone — the neutral strip between the positions of the parties. This was reported by the newspaper Gazeta.ru, citing media reports. In addition, both sides are actively engaged in humanitarian tasks: demining territories, delivering food and water, and strengthening their positions by equipping deployment sites. These actions, caused by a temporary lull in hostilities, have become a rare moment of interaction in the protracted conflict, although mutual accusations of truce violations continue to be heard.
A ceasefire initiated by Russia ahead of Orthodox Easter allowed the sides to focus on urgent tasks. However, the ceasefire remains fragile: the Russian Defense Ministry reported attacks by Ukrainian forces in the southern Donetsk direction and the use of 48 drones, including one over Crimea.
