Russian OTRK "Iskander" received new types of aeroballistic and cruise missiles

Russian tactical complexes "Iskander" were equipped with new cruise and aeroballistic missiles.

Despite the fact that the domestic operational-tactical missile systems "Iskander" were able to successfully prove themselves, these weapons began to become obsolete. Against this background, it became known that new types of missiles were created for the modernized versions of the OTRK - both aeroballistic and cruise, which should significantly expand the capabilities of the Iskander-M complexes. Data on this subject were announced by Bekkhan Ozdoev, Industrial Director of the Armaments Cluster of the Rostec State Corporation.

“Today this complex remains the most effective weapon in its class. It is significantly ahead of the best foreign counterparts. At the same time, Iskander-M is constantly being improved and equipped with new types of missiles. Its characteristics are expanding. This complex initially had a great potential for modernization, in particular, through the development and improvement of combat equipment. If in 2006 he had one type of ammunition, now their range has been significantly expanded, due to both aeroballistic and cruise missiles. This weapon will be able to perform a wide range of combat missions for a long time. For 15 years, the operational qualities of the complex have also significantly expanded. This process does not stop. ", - said Ozdoev in an interview with Interfax

No details have been announced on this score. Experts do not exclude that the radius of destruction of the Iskander-M missile system was further increased, especially since the United States withdrew from the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles.

Earlier in Azerbaijan, it was announced that Israeli air defense systems successfully intercepted Russian tactical Iskander missiles, but Baku did not provide any evidence of this, although it directly accused Russia of attacks on the Azerbaijani military using modernized versions of the OTRK.
