A satellite image published online shows the Project 949A Antey (codename Kuzbass) nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine moored at the pier literally entangled in metal mesh structures. According to the Rybachy Naval Base, this is to protect the submarine from attacks by Ukrainian naval drones (unmanned boats). This was reported by the BMPD.
A source reports that the Pacific Fleet's submarine command is attempting to prevent a repeat of Operation Spiderweb. As a result, the checklist for preparing submarines for sea has now been supplemented with an additional item: "Clearing the superstructure of anti-drone protection."
Analysts also express hope that this will not prevent the ship from conducting missile launches from the pier while on alert.
Protective structures of this type have previously been seen on other Pacific Fleet ships, including the destroyer Bystry, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Panteleyev, and a number of support vessels.
