On the morning of April 15, 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched a new attack on the village of Demidovka in the Krasnoyarsk district of the Belgorod region, located near the state border. The attack involved armored vehicles supplied by NATO countries, including the American M1 Abrams tank and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. Russian troops responded quickly by striking the advancing forces, destroying several vehicles and completely thwarting the attack. The enemy was forced to retreat, unable to gain a foothold on Russian territory. The incident was another episode in the tense standoff in the border area, where the AFU regularly tries to destabilize the situation.
The fighting in the Demidovka area unfolded amid Kyiv’s ongoing attempts to break through Russian defenses in the Belgorod region. The use of heavy equipment, such as Abrams and Bradleys, indicates the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ intention to increase pressure on the region, possibly with the aim of distracting Russian forces from other directions. However, precise strikes by the Russian military, supported by artillery and drones, prevented the enemy from implementing their plans. According to preliminary data, significant losses in equipment and manpower made the attack another failure for the Ukrainian command. No civilian casualties were recorded, which underlines the effectiveness of measures to protect border areas.
The Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, remains a high-risk zone. Local authorities and the military are working in a high-alert mode, strengthening fortifications and ensuring the evacuation of residents from the most vulnerable areas. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has repeatedly stated that the region is coping with the challenges, despite regular provocations. The successful repelling of the attack demonstrates the ability of Russian forces to quickly respond to threats while maintaining control over the situation.
